Laser Treatment

Unsightly veins, redness, wrinkles, freckles, blemishes and broken capillaries. Most of us have them, and thankfully now there is an effective laser treatment that can treat all of these at the same time in the same session and with minimal down time. It’s called the Excel V Laser machine. Laser actually stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Electromagnetic Radiation (it’s a mouthful, I know!) The electromagnetic radiation is focused in different wavelengths to target specific tissue types depending on the results that we want to achieve.

The Excel V Laser is really 3 lasers in one: the 532nm, 1064nm and Laser Genesis (ND:YAG laser), allowing it to treat a variety of different skin conditions in a variety of skin types. It uses different wavelengths of light to selectively target tissues to be destroyed (eg. vessels or pigment) or to promote collagen formation.

Here are a few quick laser Q & A

Q: What is Laser used for
A: Laser can be used to treat a variety of skin conditions, including redness, facial flushing, freckles, bruising, broken capillaries, rosaces, leg veins, sun damage, deep and superficial pigmentation, superficial blemishes, scars and wrinkles

Q: What are the benefits of Laser compared to other treatments
A: The Excel V laser system has two laser wavelengths in one system and is easily customised to work on deep and superficial conditions. It is effective at treating many different conditions quickly in a few sessions, which previously would have required several different systems or procedures.

Q: What are the different laser treatment like?
A: Laser Genesis is a gentle and collagen-producing solution for uneven texture, fine wrinkles and mild scarring. A mild warming sensation is produced and there is zero downtime, so patients can have the treatment in their lunchtime and go straight back to work. Pigment and vessels are treated with either a 1064 or 532 nm wavelength (depending on depth of the target),and the skin is cooled down at the same time by the Coolview hand piece,. Some people may experience redness or flaking afterwards.

Q: What skin types can we treat?
A: All skin types can be treated

Q: How many treatments are needed?
A: The number of sessions depends on many factors, including the size, thickness, and color of the lesion, as well as how much sun damage is on the skin. Generally, a series of 3 sessions, four weeks apart is recommended.

Q. When do we see results?
A. Significant results are usually seen within two to six weeks of treatment. But for some, it may take a few months to see significant improvements.
