Implanon

Implanon is a small flexible rod, which is inserted under the skin of the upper arm, to slowly releases progestogen (a hormone similar to the hormone progesterone), which is naturally produced by the female body into the blood stream to prevent pregnancy for up to three years. Implanon is 99.9% effective in preventing ovulation and therefore pregnancy. It is a popular form of contraception as it is a simple procedure, ‘set-and-forget’ for up to 3 year and return to normal ovulation once removed is generally quick. A number of the doctors at our surgery can assist with the insertion and or removal of Implanon.
